Some top drawer work from i29, interior architects from Amsterdam. This single-family apartment for four people is situated in a stately building in southern Amsterdam, NL. The original structure, with rooms for staff, a double hall and long hallways with lots of doors has been transformed into a spacious, transparent dwelling full of light and air.

You know, I have no idea which pieces of work to showcase from Claesson Koivisto Rune as there is so much good stuff to look at. There’s a pool of dribble on the desk, I have been salivating that much at their work. We received the above images from the Elise Island project, the transformation of a children psychiatric clinic, in the German capital. The clinic is called ‘Evangelisches Konigin Elisabeth Krankenhaus’ (KEH) and has created a holistic dreamland for young patients with psychiatric issues. With the :: dan pearlman creative agency cooperation, each room was designed in terms of shape, color, materials, light and air, with the aim of promoting a positive atmosphere of security and shelter, empowering children’s imagination and positive emotions. “The design of a modern therapeutic environment, ‘patient friendly’ is the priority of our concept,” said the director of the KEH, Dr. Rainer Norden, “we expect that a reference project has been created.”

This story is an example that design does have to have sustainability. With actual issues such as economic crisis and climate change, among other problems, it is quite obvious that there is a need for improvement for the society we have created for ourselves.

Designer, art director, photographer and illustrator Neil Watson has an exceptionally strong portfolio spanning so many different disciplines, it was hard to pick a couple of images. In the end I went with shop installation visuals, as it’s something we don’t feature enough of, but check out his other work, it’s all solid.
